Online Consortium of Oklahoma

Providing system-wide benefits since 2018 to all member institutions of higher education in the State of Oklahoma, and other organizations, to support online education and foster academic innovation.

Objectives

Develop a low-cost or no-cost professional development curriculum and shared expertise for faculty and staff teaching online at all institutions.

Leverage group purchasing to reduce the cost of online resources and technology.

Provide professional development to encourage the creation, development, and implementation of Open Educational Resources (OER) and professional development to support OER.

Facilitate collaboration and cooperation among state system institutions to provide improved programs for students and promote increased efficiencies.

Facilitate user groups for existing online delivery platforms and consider the possibility for common online platforms.

Provide assistance for institutions to address accessibility, security, and other pertinent issues related to online teaching and learning.

Identify and work to obtain funding sources such as grants to support activities to improve online learning, especially for grants for consortia or groups of institutions.

Coordinate, implement, and scale innovations and solutions as identified by the Council on Online Learning Excellence (COLE).

Consortium Member of WCET

OCO became a member of WCET (WICHE Cooperative on Educational Technology) in April 2020, offering OCO members access to just-in-time resources and a community of 400+ organizations full of online learning experts.  OCO members may contact OSRHE staff to submit questions to the WCET community.
